કાકીડા સમ આકાશ તાકવું,
હું તને ઠરીઠામ કરું ચીડ સોડાતા થડમાં.
મારી ચામડી ચિક્કાર મારાં કપડે કોતરેલાં ફૂલોથી.
પુરુષ અને હમિંગપક્ષી આજે રાત્રે આવી મને ચીમટી શકે;
મારો આનંદ અમ્રુત જે વહે.
હું તહેવારમાં ન્રુત્ય કરવા જઈશ અને વરસાદ પાશે
તો હ્રદય ઉછાળશે ઇન્દ્રધનુષ
મરા ગૂંથેલા બ્લાઉસ અને આંખો ઉપર.
જ્યારે વીજળી થશે,આકાશ બળશે,
મારું કાકીડો મોં એનો અગ્નિ પીવા મેં ઉઘાડ્યું.

Facing the sky like a lizard,
I settle you in a trunk that smells of pine.
My skin bursts with the flowers etched upon my dress.
Men and hummingbirds can come and pinch me tonight;
my happiness is nectar that flows.
I am going to the fiestas to dance and if it rains
the heart of day will hurl a rainbow
upon my huipil and my eyes.
When lightning falls, the sky burns,
I open my lizard mouth to drink its fire.
